Meth Testing

There has been a lot of discussion this year about how testing should take place but the question of who should conduct meth contamination testing has taken a back seat.

The reality is that managing the risk of meth in New Zealand is a very difficult task. There are three main categories that we consider the management of the risk to be most important.

The obvious risk of meth is the incredible destruction that the addiction can have on your life. However one of the major issues of the drug is not just applicable to those that physically use it.

It seems like just about every day there are articles in the paper highlighting another drug bust of meth, commonly known as P, or the precursor drugs required for the manufacturing process. In June 2016 the NZ Herald published an article about the largest drug seizure of meth.

The Transport Industry is one of New Zealand’s largest and most critical industries. A recent study published by Road Transport Forum NZ highlights that at present 91% of the total freight in New Zealand is transported via road.

Meth contamination can happen anywhere. Unfortunately this drug has permeated huge parts of our society and at the moment, there is no sign of a slow down. Due to this we have increasing numbers of commercial clients requesting that we perform thorough testing on their buildings.

You have reached the final requirement of NZS8510:2017 and your property is just about at the stage that it can be issued a Certificate of Clearance by the Remediation company that you selected. All that needs to happen now, is that the decontamination process is tested.

The New Zealand Standards Authority has implemented NZS8510 which governs how detailed assessment testing is to be completed.

There are two scenarios when an Individual Screening Test is utilised. The first and by far the most common scenario is following a Laboratory Composite Test being conducted where a failed result has been produced
